I’m obsessed with…floral crowns (and Frida Kahlo)
Ok, I know I have written about these fanciful beauties before, but my obsession for them lives on. I think it intensifies during the summer months and I would attribute it with the fact that they are very popular for summer weddings, therefore, can be found on all the wedding blogs and magazines. There is no shortage of resources featuring these beauties.
These pretties, whether faux or real, make me giddy with excitement. I especially love one beautiful and talented soul that wore these pretties, Frida Kahlo. Her floral crown was an extension of herself. It was a part of her and who she was.
A couple of years ago I researched Frida Kahlo for a project I was doing. I was already very familiar with her and her artwork and was a BIG fan, but I needed a refresher course. The search was filled with photos of this unique beauty and her incredible artwork. It was as though I was seeing her work for the first time. I couldn’t help, but be mesmerized by what I saw. My focus was drawn to her floral crowns. She wore them frequently in photos and these pretties made many appearances in her artwork, as well. It sparked something in me and I suddenly felt the urge to create my own crown. For a first attempt it came out quite lovely. Sadly, I have only made one more since then, but I hope to spend this summer crafting more of these fanciful beauties.
I know the ladies below are not Frida, but they are sporting lovely floral crowns.
