As I have mentioned on numerous occasions, my husband and I are crazy for Halloween. We can’t get enough of Halloween. We go gaga for the decor, the scary, the terrifying, the ghostly, the candy, the costumes and the movies. Especially the movies! Every year my husband and I celebrate Halloween with a few Halloween Movie Marathons throughout the month of October. The 50 BEST HALLOWEEN MOVIES includes our all time favorites.
The 50 BEST HALLOWEEN MOVIES includes some of the regulars we watch every year (Halloween, Friday the 13th, Carrie, etc.) and those that make an appearance every other year (Rosemary’s Baby, The Exorcist, The Shining etc.). As well as, those that have recently become favorites (Dracula, The Haunting, etc.). This list also includes movies that vary in the degree of scary, ghostly, spooky and gory. My husband and I have a very different opinion on what constitutes a Halloween movie and for that reason there is an eclectic collection of movies included in the 50 BEST HALLOWEEN MOVIES.
I am not a fan of gore and violence and I will admit I am a huge scaredy-cat. Therefore, I gravitate towards movies that are on the spooky side with a hint of scary, rather than those that are grisly or grotesque. I like anything about witches or vampires, a classic black and white film or old movie are favorites, and anything that involves Tim Burton is a wonderful treat. I enjoy movies like Bram Stoker’s Dracula, The Craft, Corpse Bride, Practical Magic, and The Birds. These kinds of movie are my cup of tea.
My husband on the other hand, loves gruesome, violent, and horrifying movies. The kind of movies that keep you up at night. His motto is “the bloodier the better.” He gravitates towards movies like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. (That is one movie I couldn’t even get through, it really terrified me.) While he loves a good gore fest he also likes his classics like The Shining, Halloween, and Friday the 13th. Thank goodness for that! I couldn’t get through our Halloween Movie Marathons if I was forced to watch one gruesome movie after another. I’d probably sleep with one eye open the rest of the year.
In our 50 BEST HALLOWEEN MOVIES list I’ve included cute Halloween themed films for those that want to get into the Halloween spirit, but don’t necessarily want the daylights scared out of them. I have included movies that are classics that should be watched at least once in one’s lifetime. You’ll also find a few that will creep you out. And a few that will scare the daylights out of you. All in all there is something for everyone.
Enjoy if you dare!
