I am blown away at how quickly the year has zoomed by. It feels like only yesterday I was preparing for 2016. Now, I’m sharing my Monthly Happy Goals for December 2017 and prepping for the New Year. This time of year is incredibly busy for us as we prep for events, attend events, complete our current work commitments, and prepare for 2018. All of this entails a great deal of juggling of our current commitments along with the preparation of the future and all of its endeavors. And as an added bonus, we must do this for not one, but two full fledge businesses- Le Vintage Photo Booth and John Arriola Films. It is a handful, to say the least.
The craziness begins in August, however, hits an all time high at the beginning of November. In November and December we are already strategizing our advertising budget, future ads, promotions, and specials, booking clients for the coming year, and so much more. We are on hyper drive during this time. Year after year we manage to get through all of this insanity, somewhat unscathed.
Owning a business requires you to think in terms of the future. For instance, weeks from now, months from now and sometimes a year from now. This way of thinking can make it difficult to live in the here and now. However, after all these years we’ve managed to find a balance. We force ourselves to take a breather or two, even if it’s for a moment, to “stop and smell the roses.” If you don’t force yourself these moments to reflect, savor, or appreciate you miss out on life and all its lovely moments.
My Monthly Happy Goals for December are focused on me reflecting, savoring and appreciating all that 2017 had to offer me, us and our little businesses. I will begin the New Year with great anticipation and excitement for what is to come in 2018.
MONTHLY HAPPY GOALS FOR DECEMBER
1. We are FINALLY getting cooler weather, so this month I plan to take full advantage of it. I will do so by lighting up our fire pit and roasting marshmallows for some delicious s’mores.
2. My husband bought me an adorable Fujifilm Instax Mini camera and lately I’ve been taking photos with it. There is something so gratifying about the fact that you are forced to take a photo without the use of filters, redos, retakes, or any other altering apps. And once you’ve taken the photo it comes right out. I can’t remember the last time I printed out any of my photos. It seems so strange that we take all of these photos, thousands upon thousands, and not one gets printed. We don’t have photo albums anymore. Kinda sad. I plan to change that.
My challenge for December is to take at least one photo every day and make myself a little Holiday Album.
3. Relax on the porch and enjoy some hot chocolate. Another way I’m taking advantage of the nicer weather. And it’s a way to “stop and smell the roses.”
4. Everyday in December take part in a holiday activity. For instance, hand make Christmas ornaments, DIY a Christmas gift, make holiday cookies, etc. You get the picture.
5. Look back on all of the events we had an opportunity to be a part of in 2017, and send heartfelt THANK YOU cards or letters to our clients. Everyday we thank our lucky stars for those who allow us to be a part of their special day. It means the world to know they believe in us, so much so, they entrust us with such an incredibly important day. Without our clients we would not be able to live our dream career.
SIDE NOTE: Oooh, I just thought of a new post series! Monthly Challenge! Every month I will give myself some kind of daily challenge. I will try my best to keep to the challenge. Throughout the month I will write about my progress and share my thoughts, experiences, difficulties and results.
December’s Monthly Challenge is take a photo every day with my Fujifilm Instax Mini. Paste each photo in an album and jot down a few words for each photo.
