It’s date night (or day)! What to do? You are interested in doing something a little different from the usual, but are at a loss. Your mind has drawn a blank. Well, I have compiled 20 date ideas for you and if you live in the Rio Grande Valley I have provided you with a few examples. Enjoy!
20 DATE IDEAS
1. For those 21 years and older. Visit a brewery or a pub that provides craft beers and enjoy what they have to offer.
They tend to carry beers from around the world, as well as, very unique blends. Please drink responsibly!
Grain to Glass in McAllen has a very good selection of craft beers, their beer menu is constantly changing, and the appetizers and food are to die for.
2. Go Bowling
I know what your thinking ‘really bowling,’ but when was the last time you went bowling. It was probably ages ago. Now think back, did you have fun? Of course, you did. Bowling is so much fun, especially when enjoyed with the one you love.
Main Event Entertainment in Pharr and Bass Pro Shops are great places for bowling and you can grab a bite to eat at both.
3. Buy one or two sets of disposable cameras and take photos as you explore your hometown or city.
Yes, disposable cameras. I like the throw back of a disposable camera and the fact that it requires you to be in the moment and put some thought into framing your shot in order to capture just the perfect photo. Make a day of it and explore your hometown or city and take in what it has to offer. After your day of exploring and photo taking, drop them off to be developed. I especially love to flip through the photos, because my husband and I can take a photo of the exact same thing, but our points of view are so different.
4. Go Stargazing.
I like this very romantic activity. Stardate has some very useful information and the app Space Junk Lite helps identify what you are viewing in the beautiful night sky.
5. Take a short trip.
Get up early in the morning and take a drive to a neighboring town or city you have been curious about, but have never made the trip. Spend the day enjoying the scenery, shops, and food.
6. Enjoy an outdoor festival, whether it be for food, music, or crafts.
This is my kind of date. Grab a blanket, pack a picnic and enjoy some music.
The McAllen Convention Center has created Sunset Live Outdoor Concert Series. This event is free and you may visit their Facebook page for details.
