My very favorite type of veil would have to be the Mantilla Veil. For one it holds a very special place in my heart (I wore this type of veil for my own wedding) and it has such a wonderful Spanish flair. But a close second are Birdcage Veils.
Birdcage veils gained their popularity in the 1940’s among brides and I see they have made a comeback. They work well with vintage style wedding gowns, as well as, modern silhouettes.A birdcage veil is the perfect way to create drama from the neck up. A rule of thumb is wherever the veil ends on the body, that body part will become the focus, because it draws the eye to that very point. Therefore, your face becomes the center of attention, because the veil falls close to your nose or chin, creating a dramatic look. Emphasis that drama with a beautiful smokey eye or eye popping red lipstick or a beautiful updo. The black and white photo is the epitome of dramatic. The model sports a sexy cat eye with a sultry dark lip. While the second photo has a more playful dramatic look. The eye is smokey, but the lip color is more subdued. The third photo has a more down to earth look, more on the cutesy side. This brides took a more natural route when it came to her makeup.
You’ve got one veil and three very different looks…birdcage veils sure are versatile.
