A Carnival Themed Color Palette

It’s hard to believe one single photo (A Colorful Ferris Wheel) could produce three (now four) separate blog posts, but in fact this photo has done just that. The second I set eyes on A Colorful Ferris Wheel I was filled with such enthusiasm. My mind was filled with so many ideas and I couldn’t wait to get them down on paper, well, really on computer and begin my blog posts. And the posts are still coming! Today I share A Carnival Themed Color Palette. These are the beautiful colors I grabbed from this wonderful photo. Enjoy!

The Weekly Roundup

Ferris WheelThe main topic of the week has been how and where to find inspiration for ANY project you may be in the process of tackling. The inspirational fuel can come from a multitude of sources, so it’s important to have an open mind and be willing to accept inspiration from all possible outlets, even unconventional ones.

On Tuesday I shared a few examples of where inspiration can be found and how powerful one single imagine can be when trying to generate ideas. It’s amazing how one single photo can spark one’s imagination allowing the ideas to flow. This over flow of ideas then gets you one step closer to executing your vision.

In the process of creating Tuesday’s post (Finding Inspiration) I was suddenly struck by one particular image- Colorful Ferris Wheel (photo above). It is such an incredible image with a wonderful whimsical tone and striking colors.  The image began a domino effect- one idea sparked another, it then led to another, and so forth. Colorful Ferris Wheel allowed the ideas to flow giving birth to a Carnival Themed Mood Board. This mood board included lovely inspiration and ideas such as: bouquets, floral centerpieces, favor ideas, color palette possibilities, dessert ideas, unique centerpiece containers etc. Perfect for creating a fun, energetic, unique and whimsical wedding or soiree.

A Colorful Ferris has to be one of my favorite photos of all time. It encompasses what I think every wedding or event should strive to be: fun, lighthearted, optimistic, unpretentious, uniquely personal, with a touch of elegance. When you follow this formula you are guaranteed to have an unforgettable day.

Here is an in depth look at some of the inspiration I provided in the Carnival Themed Mood Board.  If you would like to see all of the inspiration from the post you may do so by clicking on Carnival Themed Mood Board.Bride with Red and Pink BouquetRed and Pink CenterpieceWedding favors

Carnival Themed Mood Board

Ferris Wheel

The photo above sparked my imagination so much so that I just had to dedicate an entire post to it.  My first thought was Carnival Themed Wedding! Who doesn’t love to visit a carnival with all its fun games, delicious treats, exhilarating rides and array of colors. It brings back such wonderful memories of a time full of frivolity, whimsy, excitement, and giddiness- a simpler time without all the complications of adulthood.

It is the perfect theme for that couple looking for something a little more outside the box.  This couple wants an atmosphere that encourages their guests to have fun and leave their worries at the door. This couple doesn’t shy away from color, instead they welcome all the colors of the rainbow. This couple doesn’t conform to protocol, rules, or expectations, because they march, no, dance to the beat of their own drum.  They don’t want to fuss with a rigid seating chart, dictate what their guests should or should not wear, and they don’t stress about attaining perfection. Perfection is a word that is not in their vocabulary. Imperfections are welcomed. Quirkiness is encouraged. Anything unusual and unique gets a thumbs up from this couple. Their main goal is to plan an unforgettable wedding that is fun, exciting, and entertaining for their beloved friends and family, and they intend to have a great time in the process.

I had such a great time creating this mood board and I hope that you are drawn to it so much so you end up creating YOUR very own Carnival Themed event.

Throw out all the rules when planning such a magnificent event.  No color is off limits, the more unusual the detail the better, handmade favors are a big YES, no tux at this event, comfy dance shoes are a MUST, and the word of the day is…F-U-N.Carnival Themed Mood Board

Finding Inspiration

Planning a wedding, soiree or merely redecorating your home or office can feel like a daunting task or an enormous undertaking. Where do you begin? It entails a great deal of thought and planning before anything can be executed.

The first thing I do before I tackle ANY project is to pin point my inspiration.  Nothing begins until I have found my inspiration for which my project will be influenced by or modeled after.

Where does one find inspiration? EVERYWHERE and in ANYTHING! It may be found in a beloved article of clothing, beautiful vacation photos, an unforgettable vacation spot, a moving painting or piece of art, a near and dear keepsake, a fabulous printed fabric, a photo that has caught your eye or right outside your door in the great outdoors- nothing is off limits. When you are willing to accept inspiration from unconventional places you will find the ideas will flow and the task at hand will be completed in no time.

The following photos are just a few examples of where inspiration may come from.

For instance, this incredible carnival photo is wonderful inspiration for a home makeover or soiree. The beautiful colors lend itself to an incredible color palette. Creating a color palette is always a great starting point for any project I am doing.  The fun and whimsical energy of the photo helps to determine the feel of a room, wedding, or soiree, as well. A great deal can be taken from this one photo. These are just a few concepts that jump out at me:

Atmosphere/Ambience: Fun, Whimsical, Vintage
Color Palette: Yellow, Green, Red, Purple, Pink, Gray, White, Silver
Theme: Carnival, Amusement Park

This photo has got my wheels turning (pardon the pun) and I’ve decided to create an Inspiration Board using this photo as my starting point. Stay tuned!

Now let’s see what ideas I gather from the following photos!

This light and airy photo is so pretty. A few months ago I shared it on the blog, because of its wonderful unexpected color combination: cornflower blue and barely there pink/peach color.  Soon after I created a Color Palette (An Unlikely Pair) in the hopes of seeing this unusual pairing in weddings.

Atmosphere/Ambience: Sweet, Pretty, Lovely, Vintage, Light & Airy
Color Palette: Cornflower Blue, Blue, Peach, Pink, Gray, Teal, Green, GrayBlue, GrayGreen
Theme: Vintage, English Tea Party, Afternoon Tea

This photo is deliciously amazing! First of all I don’t think I’m alone when I say I am craving for some macaroons right about now! Second, our honeymoon comes to mind. Thinking about our trip to Paris and the lovely Laduree shop with all of its tasty confections. So much to take from this tasty looking inspiration!

Atmosphere/Ambience: Colorful, High Energy, Whimsical, Fun, Eclectic, Casual
Color Palette: Yellow, Orange, Light Pink, Hot Pink, Aqua, Turquoise, Brown, Purple, White, Cream

Now to the last photo of inspiration! Once again our honeymoon comes to mind- France and its lavender fields. Such a spectacular source of inspiration.

Atmosphere/Ambience: Serene, Lovely, Majestic

No saying is more appropriate for today’s post than, “A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words.” Here I have shown you just how powerful one single image is and how much it can inspire you. So the next time you find yourself stumped or uninspired flip through your personal photos, art books, online etc. for that one photo that speaks to you and sparks your imagination.
