Easy To Make Stamped Shipping Tag

easy to make stamped shipping tagMy life is crazy hectic (an understatement). My husband and I run two full time businesses (Le Vintage Photo Booth & John Arriola Films) and that keeps us extremely busy. If we aren’t filming or providing our photo booth services at a special celebration, we are occupied with the day to day responsibilities of the businesses. It is quite an undertaking, but luckily we’ve been at it long enough we have got a handle on it. It can take a toll, although the rewards give us the strength to keep going. And our hobbies also help get us through the chaos we call life.

For me, crafting has been my go to hobby and stress reliever. I don’t have a great deal of time to spend on it, so I love to find quick and easy projects I can immerse myself in. This Easy To Make Stamped Shipping Tag project was just what I needed last week after a very hectic couple of days. It only took me a few minutes to create 15 shipping tags.

Once I created the stamped tags I then went a step further and punched a couple of holes to hold some earrings I made for my mom. It makes for a nice presentation. It is such an easy and quick project you can make when you have a few minutes to spare.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
1. Shipping tags  4 3/4″ X 2 3/8″ (I purchased mine from Office Depot)
2. Ink pad (in any color you’d prefer) (I purchased mine from Hobby Lobby)
3. Large Stamp about 4 1/2″ X 3″ (any stamp you’d prefer)(I purchased mine from Hobby Lobby)
4. 1/16″ Circle Hand Punch (optional- to create whole for the earrings) (I purchased mine from Hobby Lobby)

1. Line up as many shipping tags as your space will allow, about one or two inches apart. Lining up the shipping tags in a row will make the stamping process go faster. An assembly line of shipping tags ready for stamping.
2. Ink up your stamp with a generous amount of ink. Start stamping. I re-inked after every tag, so that the color is more pronounced. However, if you’d like a more faded look re-ink after ever two tags. This will give it a more faded vintage look.
3. Let tag dry for a few seconds. Remove the dried tags and line up the next batch of shipping tags.
4. Proceed to stamp the next batch, repeat steps #1 and #2 until you have stamped all of your shipping tags.
5. When you’ve inked your last tag, you’re done!

I am always looking for new ways to package earrings I make and these lovely Easy To Make Stamped Shipping Tags are a beautiful and unique way to show off my handcrafted creations. The wonderful thing about this project is that you can stamp these tags with any stamp you’d like. You could use a stamp with a sweet sentiment, stamp the recipients name, use a stamp with a very cool texture, or use a vintage inspired stamp. Another option, use several smaller stamps to create a collage on the shipping tag. There are no rules when creating this Easy To Make Stamped Shipping Tag, so have fun crafting a collection of these lovelies.

DIRECTIONS FOR EARRING HOLES:
1. Lay the shipping tag on a table. Lay the earrings right on top of the shipping tag to get a view of where you would like the earrings to fall on the shipping tag.
2. Using the earrings on the tag as a guide, mark with a pencil where you plan to punch the holes. You don’t want the earrings too close to one another, so leave a sufficient amount of space between the holes. Once you have marked the holes you may remove the earrings.
3. With the shipping tag in your hand very carefully align the hole punch over the pencil mark and punch.
4. Once you have your holes punched out, slip the earrings in and place a plastic back to keep the earrings in place.

Monthly Happy Goals for September

monthly happy goals for septemberMy Monthly Happy Goals for September are pretty much focused on the preparation of the coming months as I prepare for Fall, the holidays, and a busy work season. There is so much to be done this time of year. The month of September just flies by in an instant. And the rest of the year doesn’t fare any better. This half of the year just seems to zoom by. However, I always make an effort to savor every moment, even if it does go by so quickly.

I spend September preparing my home for the Fall Season. That entails changing out pillows, adding Fall decor elements, storing my Summer decor and saying good-bye to Summer. I hate to see Summer go, although the nice brisk air is always welcomed. Especially, after a Summer filled with days of over 100-degree weather.

The holidays take precedence over anything else that may be occurring in our household. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas come so quickly and right after one another we have to prepare for them, as though it is a marathon. We have to discuss our plan of action. For instance, decor, floor plan, dates for decorating and tearing down of decor in order prepare for the next occasion. Oh my goodness it is no wonder we get any work done during the holidays with how involved the holiday decorations get.

The Fall is usually our busiest season of the year. I attribute it to the nicer weather in the Rio Grande Valley. That means a calendar jam packed with events for film and photo booth. So many amazing occasions to celebrate. It requires a great deal of prepping and fortitude on our part. With how busy we get I honestly don’t know how we get through the season. I’d have to say the adrenaline gets us through it all.

Oh my goodness, I remember one Fall season a few years ago. We had just moved into our home and the first 3 or 4 months of living there we were so busy. We traveled a great deal in that span of time. In those 3 or 4 months we spent about 3 weeks at home, the rest was spent traveling around the state of Texas. It was a whirlwind. But like everything else we survived it. And we do it all over again year after year.

My Monthly Happy Goals for September, as I said before, are focused on the following months and the holidays that follow. Read what I plan to do to stay in the happy zone!

MONTHLY HAPPY GOALS FOR SEPTEMBER

  1. I am happiest when I’m creating, so this months project will be our Halloween costumes.
  2. I love to make, shop, and bake gifts for all occasions, and the fact that Christmas is just around the corner (well, maybe not right around the corner) makes me so happy. I like to begin my Christmas shopping/making/creating early and September is the perfect month to begin.
  3. I’m not a fan of stale decorating. Personally, it bores me. That is why I am constantly changing, moving, rotating, and adding new decor elements in our home. Seasons and holidays are the perfect excuse to do so. This season will be no different. I plan to begin the change from Summer to Fall decor with an emphasis on Halloween this month.
  4. Baking is something that brings me such joy. I find it to be a kind of therapy. Baking allows me to be in the moment and focused on the task at hand, therefore, clearing my mind of everything else around me. This month I will get back to my baking. Sadly, I haven’t baked in about a year or so.
  5. There are nice breezy nights to look forward to and that means the perfect weather for a drive-in movie. We haven’t been to a drive-in movie in over a year. A drive-in movie in the comfort of our own car would be a great way to unwind after a long day in the office. It will be nice to relax as we enjoy a tasty pizza.

Happy September! How are you staying HAPPY this month?

A Sweet Disney World Wedding Proposal

anali & jorge engagementLovelies, do I have a treat for you! Today I am happy to share with you A Sweet Disney World Wedding Proposal. It is filled with unexpected complications, a groom-to-be waiting for the perfect moment to profess his love to his gal, a very patient groom-to-be looking for just the right moment to pop the question and Disney World. Yes! Disney World, the happiest place on earth, just made even happier for Anali and Jorge.

The following is Anali & Jorge’s wedding proposal written by Jorge:

A Sweet Disney World Wedding Proposal
We met unexpectedly. To strangers in the night. Our first date was watching a ‘not so romantic’ movie, but a horror movie. It was weird, but that didn’t matter.

[Soon] we met each other’s parents. They loved us so much together. [Soon after] I asked Anali to be my girlfriend and she said “yes.” After two years of dating, I finally decided to ask her to marry me.

Her family was planning on going to Disney World (her favorite place in the world) and I thought it was the perfect timing. I picked the ring and now just thinking when to [propose]. We traveled to Florida the 24th of December 2014. It was just Anali, her mom, and I on Christmas Day. Her dad didn’t join us until the 27th on our anniversary, but the timing was still not right. We [visited] a couple of parks during those days.

On New Year’s Eve we decided to go to Magic Kingdom. I thought that would be the place, but it was already full when we drove through. So instead we decided to go to Downtown Disney. She always talked about a hot air balloon. She’d been [to Disney World] sixteen times and never went on [the hot air balloon].

After having dinner and watching a movie, I went to see if [the hot air balloon was available]. Unfortunately, due to the rain it wasn’t. Her parents decided to go back to the resort, but I wanted to come back.  We passed through the hot air balloon and they opened it up again. I got two tickets and we waited in line. It was finally our turn.

As we went up [in the hot air balloon] I looked at her and said, “I love you so much and you make me the happiest man alive. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” As I was getting [down] on one knee and pulling out the ring from my jacket–[the ring I had been holding onto] for the entire trip waiting for the perfect [moment]–she said, “Yes.”

We headed back to the resort right before the count down began for the New Year. At the stroke of 12 we showed off the ring. We got two cute buttons from the Disney Store that read “we’re engaged.” Tears of joy flowed, but a beautiful memory.

We have been married almost two years now. Our love was unexpected, but we are meant to be.
