ENGAGE Runway Show Highlights

In my career, as a wedding professional, I have had the opportunity to see MANY runways. In fact, too many to count. Some have been visually spectacular, while others have been a sad disappointment. I am happy to say one runway show that never fails to amaze me is ENGAGE. Year after year I am in awe of the fashion show. From the second the music begins until the last model sashays down the catwalk I am engulfed by the runway show. On Sunday, June 11th John Arriola Films captured this show-stopping event and created the ENGAGE Runway Show Highlights.

enaura runway showThe ENGAGE Runway Highlights features beautiful models in the most swoon-worthy gowns. John Arriola Films did such a marvelous job capturing the gorgeous Enaura Bridal Couture gowns provided by the loveliest shop in town, Sposa Mia Couture. This is enough to make a girl giddy with excitement. But, of course, the bar was raised by Robert Martinez. He had a little something up his sleeve. Robert Martinez invited the talented Sohil, designer of Enaura Bridal Couture, to the Engage Bridal Show. What–a–treat!

At the end of the magnificent runway show, the one and only, Sohil took to the stage, as he walked hand in hand with a model in a fairytale gown. It was such an unforgettable experience! All captured by the master of films John Arriola Films.

Unique & Unusual Flower Vases

Anyone who knows me is fully aware of my thrifting addiction. I frequent thrift stores, garage sales, flea markets, and estate sales in search of unique and unusual pieces for my home or parties. As well as, projects I may be working on at the moment or in the future. I love to hunt for unusual items and assign them a new purpose than what was intended for it. For instance, old light bulbs now become unique & unusual flower vases. Anything can become a flower vase, for example, glass bottles (beer or wine), tin cans, jugs, an old watering can, a cake stand, etc. The possibilities are endless when you are willing to think outside the box!I, for one, think that unique & unusual flower vases are especially a great decor detail for weddings. If you are a big fan of the phrase “It’s all in the details,” then you know the importance of including carefully curated details into your wedding decor. These details personalize your wedding allowing it to feel more your own. As well as, add that extra something to your wedding. It’s the WOW factor.Table decor is the best place to begin. Your guests will likely spend a significant amount of time at their table (hopefully not too much time as they will be dancing, mixing and mingling) and it is important that the table setting and centerpieces are not only beautiful, but memorable, as well.
But how does one make these centerpieces a show stopper? By choosing unique & unusual flower vases. The more unusual or unique the vessel the higher the chance it will make a lasting impression on your guests. For instance, vessels with unexpected shapes or textures or re-imagining the use of an item that may typically be overlooked. These unique finds will help create a vignette your guests will be raving about.

Monthly Happy Goals for August

My Monthly Happy Goals for August have been influenced by the fact that August marks the beginning of a new school year for many. It’s been years since I have set foot in a classroom whether it be for high school or college or work (I was a teacher’s aid for one year), but I still find myself filled with a feeling of giddiness during this time every year. It’s hard not to when you see the rows and rows of school supplies at all the stores. At every corner of the stores I frequent there is a pile of lined paper, cartons of crayons, fun novelty folders, and packs of pens and pencils. I see those school supplies and I am taken back to those school days.

It takes me back to way back when my August was marked with the preparation of the approaching new school year. I was consumed with two very strong feelings during that time: excitement and trepidation.  I was excited to begin a new year of brand new experiences, adventures, and memories, not to mention a whole years worth of brand new knowledge to look forward to. However, I was also overwhelmed with a feeling of trepidation: Would I like my teachers? Would it be as great a year as the previous? In the end, I had worked myself up into a frenzy for no reason at all. The year would end on a wonderful note as it did every other year.

One thing I especially liked during this time was the shopping. My mom would take us shopping for our new school wardrobe and our school supplies. I always felt that what I chose–in school supplies and wardrobe–would set the tone for the upcoming year. My wardrobe and supplies would not get replaced until the next school year, so I had to choose wisely. I only bought what I LOVED. I would be looking at that folder, writing with that pen, strutting my stuff in that skirt ALL year long, so I had to choose things that tickled my fancy and would do so for the ENTIRE school year.

I am now all grown up with adult responsibilities, but I carry and cherish those wonderful memories of that simple time in life. This month I pay homage to that time in my life with this month’s Monthly Happy Goals.

AUGUST HAPPY GOALS
1. For nostalgia’s sake grab some of those school supplies. Oooh, especially some pencils–I love a good pencil! And a couple of those very cool three ring binders to get my papers sorted.
2. Read some of the classic literature books I read in high school. (Pride and Prejudice & The Great Gatsby to name a few.) And those I didn’t have a chance to read, but wish I had.
3. Enjoy a sack lunch or two this month.
4. Do my writing on pen and paper. Most of my work gets done on a computer and it’s nice to do it the old fashion way every now and again.
5. Drag my hubby on a field trip to the museum. I loved going to the museum, especially the gift shop!

A Lovely Shabby Chic Color Palette

Anyone who knows me knows how obsessed I am about pastels — specifically pink and aqua– and shabby chic decor. I’ve managed to marry the two to create A Lovely Shabby Chic Color Palette.

This inspiration photo has it all! The soft airy colors I love and adore and a beautiful pink rose. Oh how I love a pink rose! When I was in high school on my birthday my mom, aunt and grandma would surprise me with the most beautiful bouquet of pink roses. The number of roses would correspond with the age I was turing for that particular birthday. The bouquet’s were the dreamiest arrangements you have ever seen. That moment and the feeling I felt when I set eyes on my special bouquet is one I will never forget–it was everything. The women in my life always knew how to make you feel incredible special everyday, but particularly on your special day. They always went above and beyond for us.

I am swooning over this delicate palette. The sweet color palette fills my mind with so many ideas for a bridal shower, baby shower, engagement party, wedding, quinceanera or even a room makeover. The possibilities are endless!
